The scared black bear
hibernates in the warmth of
virgin caves
I feel isolated
stalk him from far away
I wish the snow
melts but
I am scared
of warmth
of light
of you
of me
cold comforts me
darkness is what I know
from my mother’s womb. I
look around
inch by inch
the snowman smiles
I light a fire
sit by his side
and he melts, drop by drop
tortured by my grief
he dies.

Your poetry is very unique, in a good way. They resonate with my tastes, at least! Loved the last one. This one, too. I’ll go through them all. Keep rolli’

The imagery is so good here that you could surround it with nonsense and it would still be good. A second reading, and the question of the metaphors begin to be begged, and the images are more deeply drawn. This is one of those poems that, if one of us had the time to read it 1000 times, and did so, we would know all there is to know about everything. I hope that makes sense to you; it does to me.

It makes absolute sense to me. Because that’s the kind of poetry I love and that’s the poetry I try to write where each and every word has its purpose. No word is for the sake of being there. And you keep reading it on repeat you uncover yet another secret. I have read such wonderful works of poets that look deceptively simple and keep unraveling in layers, then I really wish that I could write one just like that.

And there are people out there reading your work wishing the same thing. Let it satisfy you to know that. And I know I haven’t posted any poetry for a few days, but I have something in the works; maybe for Wednesday. It’s about amoebas.
